There is no doubt that Machu Picchu is an obligatory stop on your trip to Peru, and it is not every day that you are lucky enough to visit one of the 7 Wonders of the modern World. Now, getting to Machu Picchu is an adventure in itself, so we recommend you dust off your trekking shoes and pack your favorite waterproof jacket as there is a path full of incredible landscapes and architectural works in an environment that will take your breath away. If you come from abroad, the first thing you have to know is that Machu Picchu is located in the department of Cusco, an hour and twenty minutes away by plane from Lima, the capital of the country. Once in Cusco, the real journey to the Inca Citadel begins, which you can take advantage of according to the time you have. If you have more than 3 days, the ideal is to enjoy each destination in the Sacred Valley (Pisac, Chinchero, Moray, Maras, among others) before arriving in Ollantaytambo, the city where one of the train stations is located. Thus, we offer you the following travel options: Train to MACHU PICCHU from OLLANTAYTAMBO From Ollantaytambo you will travel in a train car, for approximately one hour and forty minutes to Machu Picchu Pueblo (or Aguas Calientes), the town that is located at the foot of the Machu Picchu mountain and that forms the penultimate step before entering the citadel. Train to MACHU PICCHU from POROY This trip will leave from the Poroy station, which is much closer to the city of Cusco (30 minutes by car from the Plaza de Armas), and will take you to Machu Picchu Pueblo in a period of three hours. This train operates from May to December, since the rest of the months (January to April) is the rainy season, it is closed as a precaution. Train to MACHU PICCHU from CUSCO If you prefer to start this journey from Cusco, we have two alternatives to take you to your destination. The first is starting from the San Pedro Station, this is located a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas of the City of Cusco. From here you can have a single journey to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes), approximately 4 hours, in which you can enjoy beautiful landscapes. This route is only available from May to December. For greater enjoyment we recommend traveling on the 360º panoramic train, where you will experience a unique way of traveling to Machu Picchu, exploring the Andean landscape like never before with larger and higher panoramic windows, and with an outdoor observatory car where you can enjoy all the beauty of the landscape. The only train in Peru that has an on-board entertainment system and Wi-Fi that will allow you to learn more about the Inca journey and civilization. Enjoy our healthy box lunch made with organic ingredients from the Sacred Valley, as well as an appetizing selection of hot and cold drinks, prepared with fruit juices and Andean herbs.
